North India sees improved cotton yarn demand; prices rise in Ludhiana

Cotton yarn prices increased by ****;* per kg for most of counts and varieties. Rising raw materials and better lifting supported cotton yarn prices. A trader from Ludhiana market told Fibre*Fashion, “Few spinning mills have increased their selling rates by ****;*** per kg citing hike in cotton prices and stronger export demand. Partial price rise was absorbed by the market because of better lifting from consumer industry. Better sentiments may continue at least for few weeks.”

In Ludhiana, ** count cotton combed yarn was sold at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg (inclusive of GST); ** and ** count combed yarn were traded at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg and ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of ** count was noted at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg today, according to trade sources.

Cotton yarn prices remained stable in the Delhi market, in contrast to the upward trend seen in Ludhiana, due to subdued demand. According to market sources, while current demand cannot be described as weak, it is insufficient to support further price increases. Some mills maintain that export demand is adequate to sustain prevailing price levels and are attempting to keep domestic yarn prices firm. However, domestic demand remains below expectations, with garment export orders in the Delhi-NCR region reported to be limited.

In Delhi, ** count combed knitting yarn was traded at ****;******(~$*.***.**) per kg (GST extra), ** count combed at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, ** count carded at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, and ** count carded at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg today, according to market sources.
