South India cotton yarn gains on rising fibre prices

Mumbai cotton yarn market continued to see upward trend. The positive tone was mainly driven by rising cotton and buyers’ appetite. A trader from Mumbai market told Fibre*Fashion, “Market sentiments were positive. Spinning mills and traders may remain bullish on stronger cotton prices. Cotton yarn consumption also increased in fabric manufacturing which may further lend support.”

In Mumbai, ** carded yarns of warp and weft varieties were traded at ****;*,****,*** (~$**.****.**) and ****;*,****,*** (~$**.****.**) per * kg (excluding GST), respectively. Other prices included ** combed warp at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, ** carded weft at ****;*,****,*** (~$**.****.**) per *.* kg, **/** carded warp at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, **/** carded warp at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, and **/** combed warp at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, according to trade sources.

Tiruppur market also registered gains in cotton combed yarn. Although, carded yarn was traded stable. It shows divided sentiments in cotton yarn market. Cotton carded yarn increased by ****;** per kg due to stronger in cotton. According to market sources, sentiments improved in the couple of days.  Rising cotton prices motivated buyers for new purchases. Sluggishness in textile value chain also eased amid improving demand of raw materials.

In Tiruppur, knitting cotton yarn prices were noted as follows: ** count combed cotton yarn at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg (excluding GST), ** count combed cotton yarn at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, ** count combed cotton yarn at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, ** count carded cotton yarn at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, ** count carded cotton yarn at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, and ** count carded cotton yarn at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg.
