South India cotton yarn sees positive tone, Mumbai prices up

Mumbai market showed positive movement in certain counts and varieties of cotton yarn. Its prices rose ****;*–* per kg amid rising demand. A trader from Mumbai market told Fibre*Fashion, “The Mumbai market witnessed improved demand as workers returned to Maharashtra**;s major powerloom hubs, including Bhiwandi. Rising cotton prices also encouraged buyers to book yarn for future requirements.”

In Mumbai, ** carded yarns of warp and weft varieties were traded at ****;*,***–*,*** (~$**.**–**.**) and ****;*,***–*,*** (~$**.**–**.**) per * kg (excluding GST), respectively. Cotton yarn prices remained stable in the Tiruppur market, but traders expected better lifting in coming week. According to market sources, cotton yarn prices did not see any significant movement. Demand from consumer industry was almost average to support prices at current levels, but the market is likely to see higher demand and price appreciation in coming weeks. Domestic market is also taking cues from global market prospects.
