Birds of prey are typically known for preying on mammals, reptiles, or even smaller birds; the honey buzzard is different. In spite of its confusing name, this unusual bird of prey feeds mainly on bee and wasp larvae and does not eat honey at all. Living in Europe, Asia, and even part of Africa when migrating, this raptor has certain physical features which make it possible to raid bee and wasp nests without harming them much. According to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and Cornell Lab of Ornithology, it is one of the most interesting birds of prey that exists in nature.
