UK’s Primark strengthens leadership with new CFO Lucy Slinger

Primark announced the appointment of Lucy Slinger as Chief Financial Officer.

Lucy joins Primark from her role as Deputy CFO of IKEA franchisee Ingka Group, which operates across 32 countries, bringing strong experience from another leading international consumer and retail business. Prior to this, she spent more than two decades at Shell in a range of senior finance leadership roles, including Financial Reporting, Corporate Finance, Group Planning & Appraisal, and as CFO of the Global Aviation business.

Primark has named Lucy Slinger as CFO as it advances international growth and prepares to become a standalone business.
Joining from IKEA franchisee Ingka Group and previously holding senior finance roles at Shell, Slinger brings expertise in finance transformation, governance, capital allocation and performance management.
Her appointment further strengthens CEO Eoin Tonge’s leadership team.

Lucy brings deep expertise in finance transformation, operational and financial performance management, and strategic capital allocation across complex global businesses and supply chains, alongside a strong track record in financial discipline and governance. As CFO, Lucy will play a critical role in enabling Primark’s long-term growth strategy as the business continues to expand internationally and prepares to become a standalone entity.

Following the appointment of Filip Ekvall as Chief Commercial Officer, announced in March, Lucy further strengthens CEO Eoin Tonge’s leadership team.

Eoin Tonge, Chief Executive of Primark, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Lucy to Primark at such an important moment for the business. She brings deep financial expertise from large global organisations, alongside an impressive track record in disciplined investment and operational performance. As we accelerate our growth strategy and prepare for a standalone future, her leadership will be invaluable. I look forward to working closely with her as we shape the next phase of Primark’s growth.”

Lucy Slinger, Incoming Chief Financial Officer of Primark, said: “I am excited to be joining Primark at such a pivotal point in its journey. Primark is a unique business with a strong growth ambition and distinctive customer proposition, built on making great fashion accessible while continuing to drive quality and sustainability. I look forward to working with Eoin and colleagues across the business as Primark continues to grow internationally and invest for the future.”
