'Salary gets debited before it even arrives': Gurgaon woman's work-life video strikes a chord online

Conversations around work life are no longer limited to promotions, appraisals, or career growth. Increasingly, people are talking about something much simpler and far more personal: whether they have any time left for themselves after work. Across social media, posts about burnout, rising expenses, and the feeling of living the same day over and over continue to spark discussion. Adding to that conversation is a Gurgaon woman’s video that has resonated with many working professionals online.

Gurgaon woman shares why she feels stuck in the same routine

The video was shared on Instagram by Jaysika Malhotra, who spoke about how her days revolve around the office, home, and sleep. She also said that even her weekly off gets spent on household chores, leaving little time to actually relax. In the video, she says, “It’s just come to the office, go home from the office, and sleep. And a week off, one doesn’t even know where it goes; it all just goes into washing clothes, washing my face, washing my bedsheets, just all this. And salary – the salary gets debited before it even arrives. Who said that if you do a job, you will live in luxury? Nothing is happening in the name of luxury; I can’t even go on a trip. Nothing is happening. What should I do?”She shared the clip with the caption, “What kind of life has this become, man?”Her comments reflected the pressures that many employees face while balancing office work, household responsibilities, and everyday expenses.

Many people online say they relate

The video received several responses from social media users who said her words reflected their own experiences. One user wrote, “Everything feels stuck in the same routine. What should we do?” Another commented, “Same routine, same loop… we’re stuck.”A third user shared, “Every morning, I wake up thinking, should I quit my job?” while another wrote, “This is so true.”Others also agreed with her. One person commented, “I agree with you.” Another wrote, “The salary part hit the hardest,” while one user said, “This is literally every working person’s life right now.” Another added, “Adult life is just bills, work, and tiredness.”Disclaimer: This article is based on publicly available social media content and is intended for informational purposes only.
