The European Commission has revised its REACH Restrictions Roadmap, setting out ongoing and planned limits on hazardous substances.
The update flags progress since 2022 and adds new entries, giving suppliers clearer visibility on chemical compliance.
Stakeholders can track restrictions including PFAS, hexavalent chromium substances, octocrylene and other persistent toxic substances.
Eleven REACH restrictions covering hundreds of hazardous substances have been adopted since 2022, while six more are in the final stages of evaluation.
The commission is also continuing work on larger restriction initiatives covering PFAS, described as ‘forever chemicals’, hexavalent chromium substances, octocrylene and other persistent, bio-accumulative, toxic and endocrine-disrupting substances, it said the revised roadmap is designed to make the restriction process easier to follow and to support stakeholder engagement.
It also said the update reflects the commission’s commitment to reducing exposure of people and the environment to hazardous chemicals.
The roadmap remains a live reference for companies following Europe’s chemical rules. For exporters, importers, manufacturers and sourcing teams serving the European market, the revised list indicates which hazardous substances are moving through REACH restriction work.
