Norway apparel imports grow; India’s market share slips in Jan-April

India shipped apparel worth $**.** million to Norway during January-April ****, compared with $**.** million in the same period of ****. Its market share declined slightly to *.** per cent from *.** per cent a year earlier, according to sourcing intelligence tool TexPro.

Norway’s total apparel imports increased * per cent to reach at $***.** million during January-April ****, up from $***.** million, in the corresponding period of ****. While the market expanded, India was unable to capture a larger share of the growth. In comparison, China’s exports increased to $***.** million from $***.** million, Bangladesh rose to $***.** million from $***.** million, and Vietnam improved to $**.** million from $**.** million.

China remained Norway’s largest apparel supplier, accounting for **.** per cent of total imports, followed by Bangladesh with **.** per cent, Turkiye with *.** per cent, Vietnam with *.** per cent and India with *.** per cent. Although China retained its leadership, its share declined from **.** per cent in January-April ****, indicating gradual diversification among suppliers.

India’s slower growth is notable given Norway’s fibre preference. Cotton apparel represented the largest category during January-April ****, with imports of $***.** million, accounting for **.** per cent of total apparel imports. India, as a major cotton apparel manufacturing hub, has a natural advantage in this segment, but has not translated this strength into higher market penetration.
