UV-resistant and fan-powered: India’s next performance fabric frontier

UV-resistant and fan-powered: India’s next performance fabric frontier

At Bharat Tex ****, Zeel Climate Clothing presented a new line-up of summer-related clothing, as across the globe, summers turn extreme, and India, being a tropical country, has witnessed heatwaves for several months now.

Zeel has tested and developed a prototype that helps a consumer remain cool whilst using it in an area where there is no wind or air around it. Rohit Trivedi, director at Zeel, said in an interview with Fibre*Fashion that the fabric is heat-resistant and does not let the heat come inside the body.

“So, we create an inner atmosphere wherein the temperatures inside are kept constant as compared to the outside, and then the fan acts as a continuous circulation of air,” he said, adding that this helps in creating a “feel good factor” such as splashing water during summers.

He mentioned that clothing is part of the growth of performance fabric. Trivedi said that apart from synthetics and natural fibres, people are wearing more performance clothing. “More of a thing called functional fashion. There has to be some function to the fashion, and we are seeing a huge traction over there,” he said.
