At Bharat Tex, several senior executives expressed their views on how free trade agreements would drive the next growth of the country. Sanjay Jain, group chief executive officer of PDS Ltd, highlighted that whatever the company sells today, close to half of that is getting into the UK market but largely through markets and places beyond India.
“And now we believe with this FTA in place there is an opportunity to feed into the UK by sourcing more and more from India,” said Jain in an interview with Fibre*Fashion, adding that the acquisitions, partnerships and showcasing of strength at Bharat Tex is going to help increase exports from India.
“Because the relationships with the UK retailers are already in place for us, and my UK retail customer is also looking at sourcing more from India. So, therefore, we are very excited about the initiative that the government of India has taken. We really want to be in the lead to convert that initiative into real revenue and real benefits for our country,” Jain shared.
