China has released its renewable energy development plan for 2026-2030, targeting major expansion by 2030.
The plan aims for renewable energy consumption of about 1.8 billion tonnes of standard coal equivalent, installed renewable power capacity of around 3.5 billion kilowatts and annual generation of 6 trillion kilowatt-hours.
Wind and solar capacity is expected to exceed 2.8 billion kilowatts.
By 2030, renewable energy consumption is expected to reach about 1.8 billion tonnes of standard coal equivalent. Total installed renewable energy power generation capacity is projected to reach around 3.5 billion kilowatts, with annual power generation of about 6 trillion kilowatt-hours.
The combined installed capacity of wind and solar power is expected to exceed 2.8 billion kilowatts by 2030, with annual generation surpassing 4 trillion kilowatt-hours, according to the document.
The document defines renewable energy as energy that can be continuously replenished and regenerated through natural processes within a relatively short period, including hydropower, wind power, solar energy, biomass energy, geothermal energy and marine energy. It defines new energy as all renewable energy sources excluding hydropower.
